School Ethos, Vision and Values

Cockton Hill Junior School Vision - ‘Being the Best We Can Be’

Together, we can inspire our children to be the best they can be, to make a positive difference to each other, our community and the wider world in which we all live.

School Values

We pride ourselves on our vision ‘Being the Best We Can Be’ and underpinning this we have the six core values of determination, passion, self-belief, teamwork, honesty and respect.

Mission Statement

As a Gold UNICEF Rights Respecting school, we encourage our children to be creative, unique, and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world.

Our children have the right to high quality learning experiences. Our curriculum encompasses the development of knowledge and skills in school subjects so that pupils are ready to be global citizens as well as develop vital interpersonal skills around play, communication and relationships.

We aim to develop learners who take ownership of their learning by making independent choices built on resilience. We allow everyone to participate in learning and the whole life of the school by placing important rights at the heart of every decision made.

We would like our school, which reflects British values, to be at the heart of the community. We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so that they can grow into safe, confident, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British Society and to the world.

Our Rights Respecting school provides a supportive, safe and stimulating place for us all to learn; where we want to come to every day and where everyone of us is happy and feels valued in our Cockton Hill family.

Our vision, values and school motto mean that together we can ensure that all children in our school reach their full potential “being the best they can be”.
