Over the past two weeks, we have been working on our Science topic around Earth and Space. We made models of the sun, Earth and moon to show how Earth orbits the sun and also rotates. We looked at the work of Nicolaus Copernicus – one of the first scientists who thought the sun was at the centre of the universe.
Do you know the order of planets in our solar system? Year 5 created their own mnemonic to help them remember this. Ask your children if they can tell you their mnemonic and the order the planets appear. We used globes, torches and figures to investigate day and night, how to measure a year and how we get our seasons.
